Suresite forecourt H&S consultant Phil Bonny has been appointed APEA branch representative for Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic.
The Association for Petroleum & Explosives Administration brings together the many stakeholders in the petroleum industry with a purpose of sharing information, ideas and practice relating to the Petroleum & Explosives Acts and associated environment legislation.
In Phil’s new role, he will serve as a link between the national council and the Irish branch, bringing information from the council to the local members and sharing their views and opinions with the national committee. He has been a member of the APEA since 2007.
Phil said: “I am very much looking forward to taking on this new position, to which I believe I am well suited.
“During my 16 years as a risk assessor and H&S consultant with Suresite, I have worked with forecourt owners in both the North and the Republic and so I have a good overall view of what is happening on both sides of the island and where changes are needed.
“My nomination to this role will be of great benefit to Suresite and its customers as I am now part of a body that produces approved codes of practice for the petroleum industry. This will increase my working knowledge and give me a better insight into how the industry may change in the future.
Jane Mardell, APEA business manager said: “The branch representative is a vital role that ensures there is a two way flow of communication between the APEA National Council and the APEA regional members. I am sure Phil will make a beneficial contribution in his new position on council.”
