We are proud to announce that we will be sponsoring Archbishop Temple School this year as part of the Young Chamber Programme held by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
The programme allows schools to benefit from the Chamber’s connections with businesses in the local area. It connects the world of education with the world of work, enabling students to develop essential employability skills which employers value for the future. It also provides young people with a real understanding of the variety of different opportunities that may arise when leaving education, and how their choices could have an impact on their future careers.
“As a Lancashire-based business for over 20 years, we are passionate about finding ways to support our local community” said Geoff Oldham, Suresite Chairman “When we heard about the Chamber’s ‘Sponsor a School’ scheme, we were eager to take part, and we’re excited to have been partnered with Archbishop Temple School, a school which strives to provide the best possible outcomes for its students. The Chamber scheme provides the perfect opportunity for us to provide additional experiences for their students as they consider their future professional lives.”
To celebrate the sponsorship, we invited four of the school’s Business Studies students, accompanied by Mr Gray (Careers Co-ordinator), and Mr Baybutt (Assistant Head Teacher), along to our Head Office in Preston. Here, they met Chairman Geoff Oldham, Director Karen Griffiths and four of our young employees – Adam Henry (IT Infrastructure Apprentice), Adrian Godby (Financial Analyst), Amber Watson (Marketing Assistant) and Megan Fletcher (Telephonist).
The day included providing a unique insight into how Suresite came to be the company it is today – from inception in 1994, when Chairman Geoff recognised a key opportunity in the marketplace, to 20 years on and now employing nearly 50 members of staff. The day also included a tour of the office to show them how we work on a day to day basis, as well as giving the students the opportunity to ask any questions about business, careers and training.
We are now looking forward to attending Archbishop Temple on the 7th February for their Careers and Options Evening, where three of our team will offer support and careers advice to the students.
We are excited to continue to work closely with the school and Chamber over the coming year.
