Although the weather has been glorious for most of the country this week, last weekend’s storms and accompanying torrential rain demonstrated how potentially very dangerous situations can occur in the blink of an eye.
A stark example of this occurred just days ago at a BP Petrol station in Coalville, Leicestershire. The internal structure of the forecourt canopy collapsed onto two cars after the torrential downpour over the weekend. Both drivers of the damaged cars were away from their cars at the time of the incident and, luckily, no-one was injured.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed there were no injuries, and that “crews stayed to make sure the area was safe before leaving the scene”.
